Julie Wahtola Provincial Past President, Daughters of the Holy Cross

From December 2007 until September 2009, Julie was a member of the Formation Committee whose work resulted in the Institution of The Order of the Daughters of the Holy Cross (DHC) in now Archbishop Foley Beach’s Church of the Holy Cross in Loganville, GA. She served as First Vice President on the Order’s first Provincial Council, 2009-2012, and became the Order’s President from 2012-2015.

On the Formation Committee her major contribution was writing the original draft of the Handbook of the Order and the By-Laws. As President her primary focus was improving communications within the Order and with the wider Church.

As a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King from 1994-2009, Julie was diocesan president in both Colorado and then in Washington’s Diocese of Olympia. While in Washington she also served on the DOK Province 8 Board.

Julie lives in Chicago with her husband Charlie. Last August they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage. Her son Cully and his wife Cindy also live in Chicago with her grandsons Hunter (8) and Jack (5). Her daughter Rosemerry lives in the Colorado mountains near Telluride with her husband Eric and Julie’s other two grandchildren Finn (12) and Vivian (8).
