Whether it is in a nursing home, rehabilitation center, prison, pregnancy center, low-income housing complex, or rural small town, MissioCorps seeks to start congregations among the most vulnerable and under-resourced in our society.
Scriptures repeatedly compel us to seek out and serve the orphan, widow, alien, and the poor in our midst (Deut 10:18, Zech 7:10). The Church has received these words as a call to go to people and places of seeming insignificance. We believe this call extends beyond simple acts of service: it is call to release the gifts of the people of God (Rom 12:6). These brothers and sisters have incredible value to the Church, and they have gifts that the Church needs.
Christ’s body is made up of many diverse parts, none of which are to be looked down upon or are expendable, and in fact those that seem least honorable deserve the most honor (1 Cor 12:16-23). All congregations have weaknesses and needs, and we all need each other, not to do “ministry to” but be the Church alongside.
